Brett Favre to Minnesota, Really?

Well, since my husband and I have the TV on the ESPN channel 80% of the time we have been following closely about the whole Brett Favre saga. At first they reported there was absolutely no chance the Packers would trade to any team in the NFC North, because they wouldn't want him to come back and haunt him. First the only two team that they would be willing to trade to were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the New York Jets. Which, both teams could use a quarterback. All along, for how much Brett Favre has thrown blows to the Vikings, I have secretly wished he would put on a purple uniform. I don't like Brett, but I love how he play football. Especially this last year! Not to mention he did wonders for my fantasy football league! We just watched NFL Live, and now according to John Clayton and Chris Mortenson (reporters for ESPN), the Vikings now seem the only possibility as the team that Brett would be interested in being traded too. I heard the Viking would give a third round draft pick and maybe Chester Taylor. If this is the case, what I wouldn't give to be at the Metrodome this year! Is this too good to be true? Did the NFL have this planned all along to generate more money? Makes you kind of wonder doesn't it. But, I would love to be there at a game this year. I have seen the Vikings play before. In Denver for my 21st birthday, and a couple times when we lived in Seattle but never (and I repeat NEVER) have been in the Metrodome to actually cheer with other Viking fans! I'll keep watching to see if Brett will be soon a Purple People Eater! I just hope the Vikings don't give up Adrian Peterson or someone of that caliber. You wouldn't think they would be so stupid, but Minnesota has been known to give up their star players for little or not comparable value in return. I mean Napoleon Harris and a 4th round draft pick for Randy Moss - please! Sebastian Telfair, Al Jefferson, (and others I can't think of now) and some cash for Kevin Garnett - please! They trade OJ Mayo to Memphis for Kevin Love in this years NBA draft! Come on! OJ Mayo would sell more tickets, plus I think he is just a better player then Kevin Love - I'm tellin' you. The Twins also let go of Santana to the Mets and Torii Hunter to the Angels. Although, the Twins are pretty good and holding there own this season. The next couple years should be interesting. I should run my own team! haha Okay just a big dream of mine! We'll see how things work out! Brett Favre please put on a purple jersey!!!! We know you can throw a football in the metrodome!

Karenza's Diagnosis

Well, we just got back from the doctor and Karenza has been diagnosed with strep throat. He said she has pockets on her tonsils and with the headaches and fever this is probably the cause. They tested her for strep, and even though the test came back negative (he said sometimes they aren't real accurate - especially with trying to swab a kid's throat) he is treating her for strep though. He gave her some zithromax and she is to take a tsp. one time a day for three days. No daycare though 'til Monday, and it's month end for me! Mom was here today, and helped me out. Which was so nice of her to help me out. I have a conference tomorrow for about an hour and then I will start month end. Not sure if Randy can get away. The hours he can get at work I don't want him to have to leave if he can get hours so we'll see how these last couple days go. I may be working over the weekend! But at least I now know what's been wrong with her. She hasn't been complaining of a soar throat, but he said sometimes that isn't one of the symptoms you get from strep throat. She weighs 34lbs (down 3lbs because she hasn't eaten the last couple days). He said the eating doesn't bother him, just make sure she has plenty of fluids to drink! So she wanted a cognac glass that Randy drinks his Grand Marnier in to put her juice in. Looks like white wine! But whatever it takes to get her to drink! Will let you know how the next couple days go. Hopefully I will be getting some sleep the next couple nights!

My Poor Baby

I am not sure if I mentioned this in my last post (guess I could look), but Karenza got sick last weekend on Friday night and on Saturday. She was puking, but not running a fever. She would throw up and then would want to run and do the things the other kids were doing. I made her stay inside where it was cool, and to just settle down and relax. She was fine the rest of the week and this weekend. But today she wakes up telling me she has a headache and I feel her forehead and she is burning up. I had children's ibuprofen so I gave her a teaspoon of it. I asked her if she wanted anything to eat and she didn't. She finally asked me at about 1pm if we had any bacon (I kept her home from daycare today and am working off and on today - when available I told my boss). Anyway, she was in luck because Mom just gave me some last week! So I cooked it for her and she ate two pieces. I had her drink juice, water, and even part of my diet coke. It seem to go down. She has been laying in the recliner most of the day, and I was on the computer when she called for me. I came out and she said "Mommy, I can't stop shaking!" She was wrapped up in her blanket and was shivering. I felt her and she was burning up. It was time again for her to take some more ibuprofen and I gave her a teaspoon and a half this time. I finally found the thermometer and it somehow only reads in Celsius! So I had to find a website that converted it. The thermometer read 39.5 degrees Celsius. I found a conversion chart and her temp is 103.1! So I did a quick search to see how high it needs to be before I take her to the ER. Below is what I found:

What do I do when my child is running a fever?A fever is an abnormally high body temperature. There are four categories of fever: Low: 100 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.7 to 38.8 degrees CentigradeModerate: 102 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 38.8 to 40 degrees CentigradeHigh: Above 105 degrees Fahrenheit or above 40.5 degrees CentigradeDangerous: Anything over 107 degrees Fahrenheit or 41.6 degrees Centigrade, can cause permanent brain damage.

Contact your physician if any of these conditions develop:
- temperature over 105 degrees Fahrenheit
- lower temperature (100 to 102 degrees F) lasts more than several days
- bright lights are uncomfortable or cause pain
- mental confusion or drowsiness
- seizure, convulsions, or fits
- coughing yellow or green phlegm, or shortness of breath
- swelling of the throat
-other signs of infection, such as painful join, burning on urination, or abdominal pain

NEVER GIVE ASPIRIN TO A CHILD UNDER 18 YEARS. Children should be given acetaminophen instead of aspirin, because of the risk of Reye's Syndrome. Do not bundle up under blankets. A cool shower or bath may help. Take particular care when dealing with a temperature in an infant or small child.

Here are some general guidelines for children:
Seek medical attention for a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or above, in an infant.
For fever less than 102 degrees in a child, treat by making sure that the child drinks plenty of cold fluids and remains cool.
For higher temperatures, contact a health professional and begin active cooling measures. Undress the child. Sponge the child's body with warm water, or place in a tepid bath. Do not try to cool a child with ice or alcohol.

Alcohol? Not sure what they mean by that! But, I have put a cool washcloth on her forehead and am having her drink lots of water so she doesn't get dehydrated. I just took her temp again and it is now 38.5 so it seems to be going down with the ibuprofen. Hopefully there will be relief in site for her soon, my poor baby. I don't like times like these, the only benefit is that I get to snuggle and rock her! This morning she fell asleep and we rocked for an hour and a half. When you're a Mom to a three and a 1/2 year old you cherish those moments because they become few and in between as they get to be more independent. Not a great start to our week.

I also wanted to wish my Sister and her husband a Happy Anniversary! They were married 7 years ago today!! Congrats!!

Busy Weekend...

This weekend was jam packed with things going on! Friday night Karenza stayed over at Mom and Dad's as Randy and I went to a going away party for a close friend of mine. We went to high school together, and he was an usher in my wedding. He is going to work for wind towers and will be traveling all over. Not sure when we will seem him again. It was a fun night. We didn't get home until 3:30am! It was just a house party, but we talked and B.S'd so long that we forgot what time it was! Anyway, some of my Grandpa's sisters were in town and so Mom had everyone over at her house on Saturday. We were just playing cards and having a few drinks when it started to get cloudy and the sky was getting dark. We turned on the TV and saw the radar and we just pulled Mom's new convertible in the garage and it started to hail. Golf ball size and some larger. We somehow managed too not get too much damage on the Expedition as we must of had it just parked right. Mom and Dad's house sure got damage as did their camper, My dad's pickup and my Mom's Tahoe. Cracked my great-uncle's windshield. Crazy weather. Friday night I received a call from a friend in high school that I hadn't seen since right after I was in her wedding. She has two girls that are 10 and 9. I haven't seen her since her first daughter was about 8 months old. We reconnected on Facebook, and her family was coming to Bismarck for the weekend. Since we had the family get together at Mom's on Saturday we decided to do lunch on Sunday. It was great to see her again. She hasn't changed a bit! Karenza loved her girls. Now that we've reconnected we promised it wouldn't be that long again. We use to be inseparable in high school. Funny how time just flies by without you paying attention much. Good thing for Facebook! I have a picture that I wanted to post of my girl. When we got home on Saturday from Mom and Dad's I gave her a bath, washed her hair, and conditioned her hair after her bath. Her hair looks so nice when she gets out of the bath and after conditioning it. It is so curly and so soft. Not too mention so much of it. I had to take a picture of it. She is getting so big, and is so pretty! Look at her eye lashes, and dark eyes! What a beautiful girl.

Softball, Basketball, & High School Musical

Hey! Boy did this weekend just fly by. It sure was a busy weeknd. On Friday Randy had softball. They should have had the Guinness Book of World Record out there. They have two games every Friday night. Both games go to 7 innings, but can end in the 5th inning if either team is at least 10 runs ahead. Anyway, all the other games were over at the ball park and they hadn't even finished their first game! It ended up being 33-31! Their game started at 6:30 and wasn't over until 9:45! It was crazy. We had to be up early on Saturday as Randy's traveling basketball team was in the Prairie Rose State Games in Minot. We didn't get home until after 11:00 and still had to give Karenza a bath. She had been playing at the park all night and the wind was ridiculous Friday night so she was so dirty. Anyway, Randy's team only had two games and both were being played on Saturday. Their first game was at 10:50am, but we had to be there by 10:00am. It's about an hour and half away. Randy set the alarm for 5:30am! I don't know why, but he did. Karenza and I were very sleepy. She had come in our room at about 4:30am and so I didn't get much sleep from 4:30 to 5:30. We were out of the house by 7:15 as we had a few errands to run in the morning. Karenza slept the whole way there, which was nice because it is sometimes hard to travel with her because she talks non-stop!! Randy's basketball team actually won the Gold for Prairie Rose! For not playing for two months and only have practice for a week they looked really good! They played all their games at Minot High School, and they had to get their medals at the Minot Dome. I hadn't been in there since we won our high school championship for boys basketball. I was a cheerleader. Brought back some memories that's for sure. We got back to Bismarck at about 6:30 on Saturday. Before leaving Minot we stopped to fill gas (Karenza had already fallen asleep). Randy noticed there was this pet store next to the gas station. So we woke Karenza up and took her in there. They had tons of puppies. They were so cute. And she loved it. She never did ask if she could have one. I was surprised. When she woke up yesterday morning she wanted to call Papa right away to tell him about the "cute" puppies she had seen yesterday. Papa and Grandma weren't home. So we went to breakfast and then went to the mall. She got a new outfit, and Randy got a couple shirts. Didn't see anything for my self. We then went grocery shopping, and waited for Papa and Grandma to call. They summer theatre is putting on High School Musical for their show. It is at a place called Sleepy Hollow and it is outside. You bring your own chairs too. The show doesn't start until 8:30, but Mom had heard there were 500 people their the night before so we wanted to make sure we got a good seat. So we went at 6:30pm. They open the gates at 7:00. We were second in line and had great seats. Karenza absolutely loved it. She was so funny. I was watching her most of the time instead of the show. I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures of her. But she was singing ever song with them and dancing. There was a solo scene of Troy shooting basketball and he made a basket and it was absolutely quiet and she yells "Good Job, Troy!" People around us were laughing at her. At the last scene where Gabriella wears her red dress for the final show, Karenza has that dress. She told my mom and me "I should of wore my dress!". That didn't get over until 10:40 so it was a long show. Tired girl this morning, but that is all she talked about on the way to day care this morning!

We have family coming from out of state this week so I will be busy with the family all week and weekend. Have a great week!

Papa & His Girls...

On Monday the girls spent all day with my Dad. I had Monday off because Wade, Mindy, Savannah Jo and Kenadie were to be staying over night for a couple days, but their plans changed as Wade's Grandma isn't doing very well. So I still had the day off and went to the casino with my Mom, Grandma, and sister. I didn't win anything (even off of my Mom's money). She had given me $100 on the way down. I played for a long time, but eventually it was gone. I played slots, and blackjack. The craps tables weren't open! Then Mom was doing so well she gave me and Holly another $100 and I lost that too!! It was crazy. It was fun though. We were there from 10:00am until 5:00pm! So that wasn't bad to play that long on that money. Mom won $1100! My Dad and her had went down on Saturday with some friends and she won $1100 then too. On Monday she won it on the same machine as she had won on Saturday. I mean she just couldn't loose! I tried following her and even rubbing elbows but it wasn't working. Well, anyway, the Girls spent the day with Dad. He took them out for breakfast and then to the mall. They each got some new clothes and they also got their picture taken. I couldn't stop laughing at this photo because Dad is trying so hard to get into the picture and the last picture just cracks me up! He said the first picture they realized they needed to move over a little bit, but they all moved the wrong way. He said Karenza was standing on his lap and was trying to stick her face way up to the flash. It looks like they were having a good time. He took them to the "Kid Store". It is really called Snoopers and it is just filled with games for kids. He did what ever they wanted. What a fun day for the Girls, and it is what Papa loves doing! Thanks Dad. Karenza is still talking about her day with Papa.

We had such a great weekend! Friday we dropped Karenza off at Mom and Dad's for a few hours so we could go to Cycle Hutt in Mandan. They brought Jason Britton from SuperBikes on the Speed Channel! Randy and I watch that show all the time. He does stunts on his motorcycle all over the country. It's crazy that ND got him or that he even wanted to come here! So we went over there for a few hours and we got to meet him. Randy shook hands with him and I was giving him crap all day saying "Are you going to wash your hand now?" Because when I was in the 4th grade and Governor George Sinner came to our school he shook my hand and I vowed never to wash it again! Yeah, okay so 4th grade! Anyway, it was really awesome and the stunts he did were ridiculous! Then we went back to Mom and Dad's for the whole day into the evening. We didn't get home until 11:30 or so. Karenza was so wore out. She hasn't had a nap this whole weekend! Today doesn't look any better she is with her Papa today. Then on Saturday we took Karenza to the river. Well, according to her it was the "Ocean" and she swore she saw a whale! She made sand castles and splashed in the water. We were out there for about 4 hours. Randy and I played cards. It was so relaxing. Yesterday Wade, Mindy, Savannah Jo, and new baby Kenadie came to visit for the day! It was so nice to see them again. We miss them so much, and to hold a 6 week old baby definitely makes me want another baby soon! Holly can't wait until her baby comes. I forget how little they are and they smell so good!! My Uncle Dennis and his friend Frankie came to visit (they use to date back in high school - a really neat story!). She is such a nice lady and I am glad to see my Uncle Dennis smile and be happy again! As he lost his wife a couple years ago in January. Also, my Uncle Larry and his wife Marylee came as well. It is always nice to get together with the Robinson side. Not many left and we always have so much fun and my Uncle's and Dad always have so many stories to tell. We laugh until we cry! It is so nice. Can't wait to get togther again! Anyway, I hope you all had a great fourth and were able to spend it with your loved ones! Have a great week.
